Mention the Automatic World When You Write
RAND OM RAMBLINGS
By RANDY
Did you get that "cra.ck" Walter Millsap let loose
about the fellow that offered his route for sale and sent
kids ahead to fill the machines with coins. Suppose the
k ids had made a mistake and used slugs.
I caught this report the other evening- from one of
the Publix thea.ters in regards to the check up on a candy
vendor. I don't know how long- it had been since the
check up before but here was the report as it went over
the phone : "Seventeen dollars in cash and 40 cents in
slugs." Now that wasn't bad, was it? And beli·e ve me,
that Hershey bar that the Publix folks are vending just
calls for more.
I personally made a survey last week in regards to
scale locations and was really surprised to find so many
fine and exclusive locations for scales in particular.
The greatest need right now, and we think one of
the first things the Automatic Merchandisers Associa-
tion should do, is to create a complete rating upon every
member of the industry. Put the rating of every manu-
facturer, jobber and operator down in black and white
and it will save a lot of putting down in RED "some-
times. Don't only give information on their financial
standing but throw the spotlight upon their methods of
doing business, if they are not right.
