SYMPTOM
PROBLEM
Loud hum in this and other Data
East Games. All the obvious
things, i.e. power supply, ground
plug and speakers, have been
checked.
I've recently seen a surprisingly
large amount of my Rowe 4900's
display the error code 80-01
(OBA communication error).
SoLlITION
SOLlITION
Believe it or not, I've had more
hum problems with Data East
games from loose screws holding
the boards in the backbox.
So, before you look any further,
make sure the back of the boards
are clean and making a tight con-
nection against the metal mount-
ing.
The manual lists three culprits.
The OBA Controller, The Main
control board and the intercon-
necting wire.
After trying both boards and
checking the wire integrity the
best solution so far is ...
The Line noise reduction kit,
Rowe part no. 493-6026. Try it,
it works!
