IMONEX COIN ACCEPTORS:
THE TRADEOFF FOR MECHANICAL Vs ELECTRONIC
coin validation equipment in the world are
Imonex's highest priorities.
We are never indifferent to the concerns of a cus-
tomer and hope that no one at Imonex inadvert-
ently conveyed that impression to Mr. Mischel,
whose business we sincerely value.
Our records show thatjohn Meyer, Dahlco Music's
service technician, contacted us on March 15 And
reported loses from these cardboard penny devices
at $10. Though many operators would consider
this figure well within the range of acceptability
from over 100 units, Mr. Mischel's concern is im-
portant to us.
No one in Imonex upper management has yet spo-
ken to Mr. Mischel, but I will do so personally.
Hopefully, I will gather more details on his situa-
tion so that we can better respond. In the mean-
time, I can address what appears to be, at least in
part, a problem in communication .
We told Mr. Mischel we hadn't heard of the type
of homemade slug he describes, simple because
the Imonex representative he spoke with was un-
familiar with this particular device.
When we told Mr. Mischel that we had never heard
of Imonex accepting "virtually anything," we did
so based on our experience in serving thousands
of highly satisfied Imonex customers.
No device can totally eliminate fraud, including
Imonex. However, our product's resistance to fraud
is comparable to our competition, while its ability
to enhance operator profitability by reducing coin
jams, downtime and service is exceptional and well
documented in a history of field use that now spans
more than a decade.
As I've noted, I must speak to Mr. Mischel to fully
respond to his concerns, but can offer some gen-
eral information that may be of value to
STAR*TECH journal readers is accessing our
product's performance and real-world impact on
operator profitability.
Imonex is the manual coin acceptor that processes
coins with moving parts, eliminating problems as-
sociated with cradles and electronics. Typically,
customers experience the virtual elimination of
coin jams, as has Mr. Mischel. Vandalism, fre-
quently associated with coin jams, also drops dra-
matically. Since Imonex requires absolutely no
cleaning or adjustment, m~ntenance overhead is
reduced to zero. Lower overhead and increased
uptime results in substantial increases in operator
profit.
These enhancements in profitability greatly out-
weigh the minimal losses an operator might expe-
rience from slug acceptance.
When Mr. Mischel begins to assess coin acceptor
related increases in machine uptime, and intan-
gibles such as greater customer satisfaction, I
believe that Imonex's acceptance of these unusual
homemade slugs will appear insignificant in the
overall context of our product's profit-building per-
formance.
Once again, I will be in touch with Mr. Mischel
and regret any problem in communication he may
have experienced with anyone on our staff.
