bands of warriors to take care of
the remaining humans."
"There are a total of 14 charac-
ters out of which six are from the
previous games (Liu Kang, Sub-
zero, Jax, Kung Lao, Kano, and
Soyna), and the rest are new char-
acters.
Names are kind of funny thing
right now because some of them
haven't been approved yet.
There's going to be one com-
pletely new boss monster, he's
pretty cool. That's all I can say
about him."

when Shao Kahn takes over the
planet, the Indian is on an area of
land that is sacred to his family
and his tribe, so he is protected
from Shao Kahn.
Another guy fights with hooked
swords and wears a big mask with
tubes going into his body. Shao
Kahn is unable to take his soul,
so he sends a group of soldiers and
they mess him up pretty bad and
he is left for dead, but he man-
ages to survive.
There's also a SWAT guy and
there's the cybernetic ninja
guys ... "

"There's Shao Khans queen
(Sheeva) , who is a player charac-
ter. She's real central to the
storyline because it's because of
her that Shao Kahn is able to take
over Earth.
She died 10,000 years ago and she
gets reincarnated on the planet
and it's because of that Shao Kahn
can come over and take over.
She's got real long flowing white
hair that she whips around, and
she can also fly, ·Well, sort of hover
I guess."
"There is also a modern-day In-
dian, there's nothing real typical
about him. As far as his storyline,
Ed Boon: "Right, there's these
cybernetic ninjas and they sort of
represent a new chapter in Sub-
Zero's soap opera.
Sub Zero's back, but he's not a
ninja any longer. He's taken off
his mask, and he retains some of
his powers that he had, but he gets
double-crossed by his clan and
they modernize and have these
robotic ninjas.
When Sub-Zero quits, they send
a couple of them to assassinate
him. And since these new ninjas
are robots, Shao Kahn can't take
their souls. That's all we can say
right now."

CRACKED DISPLAYS

SUBJECT
Bbs Post: Anyone else had a rash
of cracked pinball display glasses?
The new Phantom came out of the
box with one, I've had it happen
on T2, Twilight Zone, talked tooth-
ers with same situation. Is this a
poor mounting design on the glass
to circuit board mount or possi-
bly on the module to machine
mount? A defective glass run?
Regarding the message from Marc
Mandletort re: Broken displays,
STAR*TECH]ournal notified Wil-
liams of the Bbs post and Tom Cahill,
Manager Technical Services, responded
with a phone call to our office.
PIN MFG VIEW
"Overall, display glass breakage
is not a problem." Tom said,
"Maybe one in 200,000 displays
are defective. Glass, because of its
nature, has a tendency to break if
mishandled."
Also, Tom noted that the main
manufacturers of the displays
(Cherry and Babcock) have in-
creased the integrity of the units
over time and they can now with-
stand much more shock and abuse
than that of past displays. So, the
bottom line is that there is no run
on displays and no defective mfg
process loose in the pin industry ...
just a few random occurrences.
