SUBJECT
SUBJECT
In response to Kerry Messana's
tip in last month's Journal con-
cerning the testing of opto units:
"There are a couple of sneaky
ways of checking these optics out.
You could check the optic s_et-by
shorting the sender. This sliouid
cause the "switch" to read open."
I've been a video technician for
over 4 years and have yet to see
an article pertaining to why Bally
doesn't remake the Ms. Pac
Cocktail.

Be careful: You don't want to
short out the 12vdc power and
blow the fuse. It's easier to just
stick something across the face of
the ,emitter like a business card,
to block the light transmission.
TESTER
Radio Shack sells nice little infra-
red detector cards that glow when
hit with IR light. These work
great for checking opto emitters.

SUPPLY/DEMAND
Once again I have my head stuck
in one of these things -the moni-
tor doesn't work, the edge con-
nector needs built up, and the
fuse clips are so old they don't
conduct anymore.
WHY AM I BOTHERING?
The 20- to 30-something bar
crowd ~ to play Ms. Pac. In
fact, we can barely keep enough
of them going to satisfy the de-
mand!
REINVENI1NG TIIE WHEEL
It burns me up everytime I read
an article about the never-ending
quest for the ultimate bar game.
It exists! All they need to do is
make one like Ms. Pac with an
independent power supply.
BOTTOM LINE
After all of last years hottest
games have sizzled out, Ms. Pac
cocktails still produce steady
earnings.
