REPORT
This years AMOA (Amusement & Music Operators Association) annual industry trade show
was held in San Antonio, Texas on September 23-25. An estimated 8,000 operators,
distributors and manufacturers were in attendance.
PINBALL
Out of all the new pins shown at
this years AMOA, none of them
were anything real special.
Premier had Freddie- Nightmare
on Elm Street. Data East featured
a card game theme from this sum-
mers movie Maverick. Bally's
new pin was Corvette and Will-
iams had The Flintstones, World
Cup and Road Show. All where
OK in their own respect, but the
only real players pin, in my opin-
ion, was Road Show.
At first, it looked to me to be
nothing more than Funhouse re-
visited. After playing it for a
while, however, I soon learned
that there is more to this game
than meets the eye. Road Show
is a good pin for the novice player
just trying to acquire a multi-ball
and receiving a jackpot -along
with hitting some of the "bells
and whistles" at random .
But, for the real pin player, one
who is out to activate every little
thing the game has to off er, Road
Show is a great pin for them also.
Whether you are a novice or a
pinball wizard, Road Show is so
complex that you must continue
your game with the "Add A Ball"
feature in order to reach every
town in the game. Explained
Roger Sharp of Williams, "Road
Show includes two 'Rudy' type
construction workers in the
playfield that talk and assist you
on your journey from construc-
tion job to construction job." This
pin may be a sleeper, and one you
should consider.
T AITOO ASSASSINS
The new video from Data East is
the first game to involve the video
game industry along with the
movie industry. This game
evolved from a screen play writ-
ten by Bob Gale, the man behind
Back to the Future parts 1,2, and
3. Joe Kaminkow, Vice Presiden
of engineering for Data East,
read the script and thought it
