SUBJECT
PROBLEM
Now that you guys have done such a good job of protecting your
copyright, we operators could use a little help in protecting our
boards.
Rowe MC/BC Series acceptors:
Poor or no $5 bill acceptance.
$1 bill acceptance OK.
PROBLEM
REASON
I know that just about everybody is aware of the problem with
stolen Midway NBA Jam and Mortal Kombat boards. Seems they
are just so easy to steal that some guys just can't pass up the easy
pickin's. The problem is compounded by the lack of a means to
identify these boards.
Low Mag Head signal.
I realize that with other game operators being the most likely
suspects in this type of theft, that the task of protecting these
valuable boards will not be an easy one. The innovators at
Williams have, in the last few years, demonstrated their ingenu-
ity, and I would like to be able to count on their help with this
problem.
SOLUTION
Replace all electrolytic capaci-
tors in the Mag Head Ampli-
fier circuit.

SUGGESTIONS
if I had the answers I would gladly offer them, but I don't. I would
like to see the serial number affixed in a secure manner. or even
better, ifit was in the software, like in the manner of commercial
software packages (i.e. Lotus or X-tree) where it is viewable on the
screen -than identifying stolen boards or even bootlegs could be
as simple as looking at the screen. I am sure that, as with
counterfeit money, only a few different serial numbers would be
used by any one maker. In the end, it might even be more useful
for tracking down your thieves more than ours.
