SYMPTOM
SUBJECT
SYMPTOM
We noticed when Phantom came
off location that the speech over-
powered the regular music.
Pinball playfield coating mainte-
nance. Starting with Star Trek
pinball, Data East is providing a
new"Stealth"Top Coating on the
playfield surface. This new coat-
ing has been proven very effective
in it's several years on test, but
for maximum life, a regular
cleaning maintenance should be
performed.
No response from STAR-ft-TECH
Journal's BBS service.
SOLUTION
Al though the sound boards look
almost alike, if you use a sound
board from an earlier Data East
game (Secret Service, Playboy,
etc.), 2 resistors located at Rl 7
and R18 must be changed to 43K,
in order to balance out the sound.
CAUSE
Apparently, our sound boards
were switched at some point.
Data East told me to check those
resistors, and then we even spot-
ted it in the manual prints too.
Now all sounds are in perfect bal-
ance with the speech.
Address Changes
Please use your account
number when updating
your subscription
information.
Your account number is a
five digit number found
on the top line - left side of
your address label, which
is affixed to your journal.
MAINTENANCE
We recommend Novus Plastic
Polish #2 for the best perfor-
mance. This polish is both a
cleaner and protectant and
should be used on a weekly or
bi weekly basis to insure the long
life of the playfield.
In addition, this same cleaner
may be used on plastic ramps in
the game, because it does not con-
tain petroleum byproducts. It
will not discolor or "fog up" the
plastics as other cleaners might.
CAUSE
A rogue summer thunderstorm
unleashed a direct lighning hit
upon the phone line serving the
BBS. All hardware was fried.
SOLUTION
S -ftT J is now looking for a loaner
modem and computer (IBM or
compatible) to quickly get back
online. All software, incidently,
was recently backed up and is
safe and valid.
Hopefully, the system will be op-
erational very soon. Any changes
will be announced in the next
issue.
