fifteen amps and should not be
overloaded. Read the tag 011 the
back of your equipment to see
how much current it draws. Don't
let this go over the rating of the
circuit.
On most video games this figure
is about three amps, on the typi-
cal pinball this figure can be as
high as eight amps. On large
sitdown games you will have to
check the tag or contact the
manufacturer for information re-
garding current draw. Some
large sit down games can draw as
much as ten amps or more!
Vending equipment is another
story. Any refrigerated or heated
machine should have its own cir-
cuit, period. Compressors and
heating elements draw high cur-
rent and should not share a cir-
cuit with anything else. Check
the tag which may be located in-
side or outside for the current
draw on vending equipment. You
may find that you need a tw◄mty
amp circuit installed in order to
use them properly.
Snack machines draw far less
current than the hot and cold
machines and can share a line
with other equipment as long as
you make sure the total current
draw of all equipment is within
tolerable levels.

higher than that of the machine
you are going to use it on.
Get one that is as short as pos-
sible to get you over to the outlet.
The longer it is the more resis-
tance it has and the more voltage
drop you will get through it.
Do not put two high current de-
vices on the same extension cord.
On lower current machines this
becomes less critical but use the
same basic guidelines when fig-
uring out total current draw ver-
sus current rating of the exten-
sion cord.
Do not cascade extension cords
into others. If you are plugging
multiple machines into an exten-
sion cord then keep it to three or
less even if the current draw limit
is not reached.
Check the specs for the extension
cord and make sure its cun·ent
rating is at least fifty percent

SUMMING IT UP
All in all, if you go by the basic
guidelines I have laid down here
you will have alot less headaches.
Chances are your machines will
not have any power related prob-
lems and you won't be transmit-
ting interference all over the
neighborhood. And, best of all,
your equipment will be running
clean and efficient.
EXTENSION CORDS
The use of extension cords is not
recommended with high current
drawing equipment. Sometimes
they must be used, in which case
you should use one that is capable
of handling the load.
