PROBLEM
There is a DC blocking capacitor on the input to
the audio amp that keeps the any nasty DC from
being applied to the amp. But it also can block
any leakage from the audio amp from draining
off effectively, thereby swamping the input sig-
nal or severely clipping it.

SOLUTION
Install a 1 OOK ohm resistor from Pin 1 of the
audio amp to ground.
