Horizontal
Width
PROBLEM
After converting a game you have
insufficient horizontal width, and
if you could adjust L503 (horizon-
tal width coil) without it breaking
it wouldn't be enough anyway.

Try adjusting your B+ fully clock-
wise. This will give you a little
more width and it won't be enough
to kick in the x-ray protection
shut-down circuit.
SOLUTION

2
In situations requiring more (ap-
proximately 1 inch+ on each side)
change C515 (0.53ufd) to 0.39ufd.

SOLUTION
Use polypropylene types and, as
always, observe your voltage rat-
ings (equal or better).
NOTE
The 0.39u value has worked well
for me several times although
each situation varies.
THE RULE
My general rule of thumb regard-
ing horizontal width circuits of all
monitors I've encountered is the
relationship between the capaci-
tance on one side of the width coil
and the horizontal width itself.

SYMPI'OM
Right side cannon gun motor
weak or disabled: may or may
not blow fuse in backbox.
CAUSE
Check for shorted flash lamp
lugs. Some of the bayonet types
have loose lugs which can tum
and short on each other. This
may reduce power to the cannon
motor or blow a fuse and take
the voltage out altogether.
CHECK
Also check the wirewound
chokes on the motor filter board
(attached to the motor). Some of
these have been know to have
poor solder connections caus-
ing erratic operation.
