A. Nintendo
I feel that no one can deny that technological
advances are desperately needed in the coin-op
video game business today. However, techno-
logical advances are the most difficult hurdles in
our business and usually come in cycles. Mil-
lions of dollars are currently being spent on new
technology and hopefully a breakthrough from
someone is right around the corner.
Q.Why don't manufacturers back up their
products with a long warranty for parts that
are obviously factory defects? I have had
many games break down with the same prob-
lem as everyone else's.
A. SNK
SNK corporation of America publishes it's war-
ranty policy in each manual, however we do
make exceptions when justified. If a game has
been inventoried by a SNK distributor and the
warranty has expired, if the distributor informs
us of the situation, we will not reject a warranty
claim. This protects the distributor and the
operator from an obvious factory defect. Our
primary focus in Technical Service is to get the
operator up and running, whatever it takes.
A. Nintendo
From Nintendo's perspective, we warrant all
parts against defects and perform, we feel, to
everyone's satisfaction. We totally agree, how-
ever. that any defect is the responsibility of the
manufacturer.
