The AMOA Education Committee (Randy
Chilton, Chairman) has scheduled three
identical regional seminars that every tech-
nician should consider attending. These two
day (weekend) intensive training sessions
are being divided into two simultaneous
groupings: Technicians and Route Sales
Personnel/ Collectors.
Toe tech courses will cover digital multime-
ters, power supplies, monitor repair and
pinball troubleshooting. The route seminars
take up basic troubleshooting for collectors,
customer relations and service, contracts,
cranes.Jukebox programming, game layout,
and much more.
Dr. Jerry Sequin of Notre Dame University
will give two sessions on key management
issues. I've had him at the AMOA Executive
Development Program and I rate him as tops
in his field and he knows the amusement
industry as well as any veteran operator
(AMOA President, Wally Bohrer, will be fill-
ing in for Dr. Sequin in Atlanta).
All instructors are well known to industry
trade publication readers: James Calore
(publisher STAR*TECH JoumaO, Todd
Erickson, Randy Fromm, Frank Seninsky,
Mike Ralston and Jim Stansfield.
Toe price of $100 per person to AMOA
members ($125 for state association mem-
bers/$175 for non-AMOA and non-state
association members) is simply a great bar-
gain for 12 hours of training. I'm planning to
send at least 5 people to the Philadelphia
session, if AMOA doesn't think I'm being too
greedy. Where else can a routeman learn
about the fine points of his Job from a faculty
of industry experts?
The dates and locations for 1988 are:
August 13-14, Atlanta Airport Marriott
October 8-9, Philadelphia Airport Marriott
December 3-4, Los Angeles Airport Hyatt
Make sure you register immediately as only
about 50 people per session can be handled.
You'll note that I've committed three week-
ends to this program because I really believe
in its value. I'm looking forward to seeing yo~

Update to ACME '88: The Show in Review
In the April issue I stated my opinion about
the difficult time I had getting out of Reno.
I'm glad that industry people do read my
columns as something good usually comes
from telling it like it really is, instead of just
saying nice boring things about everything.
I've been informed that the ACME people are
seriously looking into charter flights, direct
to and from Reno from major cities for next
year's show. In addition, the show literature
will inform us about all the possible flight
routes to Reno, so we can stay away from the
Denver hub. With these positive changes, ~
don't have any "reservations" about going
back to Reno next year, and neither should
any of you. I'll take another hit!
