Chicago SUG
Conference
Convention Tim.e
'89
The STAR,tTECH Journal Users Group
(SUG) conducted its first ever meeting dur-
ing the AMOA Expo '88 in Chicago last
month (November 4th) at the Hyatt Regency
hotel.
Goodbye Chicago, Sorry Atlanta, and
Hello Vegas!
AMOA's 1989 show changes from Atlanta to
the Las Vegas Hilton for its 3-day affair, and
moves up to an earlier month and a different
day pattern too. Monday September 11th
thru Wednesday Sept. 13th, 1989, are the
show dates just announced, and this will
satisfy both surveyed show attendees and
exhibitors, both with the glitter of Las Vegas
and the practical need for a huge exhibit hall
instead of three scattered halls like the
Chicago show.
Among the distinguished members of the
bulletin board community present were:
Dari Davidson and Dave Cantrell of Sega
Enterprises (San Jose, CA), Gregg DiPipi of
American Vending (Maple Shade, NJ), Todd
Erickson of Summit Amusement (St. Paul,
MN), Jamie Saccullo of Mr. Packman Enter-
prises (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), Bill Johnston of
Johnston's General Store (Buffalo, NY), and
James Calore of Star~ech Journal (Mer-
chantville, NJ). Also joining the festivities for
the evening were Henry Schlesinger, Music
& Games Editor for Vending Times Newspa-
per and John Masterton, Associate Editor
for Vending Times (New York, NY).
Needless to say, many Industry (and world)
problems were discussed (and solved) over
imported drinks and finger foods as the
conference was declared an overwhelming
success by the participants. Arrangements
are now being made for next years Second
Annual SUG meeting. Keep your calendar
dates open!
Meanwhile, the ACME show continues on
course for the next national show, Thursday
February 23rd thru Saturday Feb. 25thr
1989, at Baily's Hotel, Reno, Nevada. Those
seeking bargain airline fares would be wise
to book early using ultimate super-saver
fares (or whatever your favorite airline calls
them).
Most operators found the Reno show last
year to be a great bargain-5 nights includ-
ing gambling, higher airfare from most origi-
nations, cheap meals, free drinks in the
casino, and bargain lodging at Baily's cost
about the same as 3 nights in Chicago!
