Machine Pawl Replacement
By John Batistic
Cleveland Coin Machine

SUBJECI': Pawl-Base Asserrbly-Brewer
The stopping position of the carriage and
brew charrber on the 8050G (Bean Grinder)
does not allow the pawl on the base
asserrbly to return to the down position
when the brewer is at standby. The pawl
being held in the up position puts undue
stress on the nolded spring of the pawl
lever and will affect the function of the
pawl over a period of time.

The Player/ROOT'S MACHINE
By John 'Root' Pilarchik
Pennsauken, New Jersey
Here is a machine that would have all the
ingredients of a top winner. First, it
would be a two flipper game with no
multi-ball play. 'Ihe flippers would be
fast to the touch and have all the power
the player would want.
Before beginning a game, the player would
be offered the choice between normal speed
ball action or fast speed (skilled
action) . 'Ihere would be some type of bonus
given to the player who chooses the
skilled action play to attract him/her to
this more difficult play, such as lower
score, more specials, etc; sorrething to
separate your average player from the true
players.
The choice of the two speed settings wouli t
give the sarre machine two different style
of play, making it nore of a challenge an
less boring (after time) to the skilled
player without hurting the average
player's game.
Second, the playing field would offer at
least two different specials and a minimum
of two free balls, and all shots would be
within flipper range.
The trick to a good playing field is to
have just the right anount of interesting
as well as fair shots to go for -without
going overboard with crowding the game
with alot of unnecessary shots and
gi.rranicks.
The shorter pawl has been made standard
and will function correctly on all RMI
brewers. Because it is a direct
replacerrent, the part nurrber of the pawl
has not been changed. The part nurrber of
the pawl is 15019.
It is recoll'['l'Y2nded the short pawl be
installed on all 8050G (Bean Grinders)
in the field, these pawls must be replaced
in pairs.
Score settings should be fair with at
least two garres awarded on score. So with
a possible two specials and two games on
score to obtain, the player will feel
they're getting a fair return if they
happen to play an exceptionally hot game.
Play on ... Root.
