Horizontal Tear
Wiles
Eyler Vending
Frederick, Maryland
By Sam
SOLUTION: There is a simple m:xlification
that can correct this problem.
* First resistor R314 rrust be changed from
390 ohms to 1.8k ohms.
PROBLEM: Horizontal Tear that cannot be
adjusted out.
EXAMPLE: Picture tends to wrap around.
I\.
)
CAUSE: When this monitor is used in a grure
or conversion with CoIIlfOsite Sync, you may
experience this problem. This monitor was
4 lot intended to work with CoIIlfOsite Sync,
although they are used as such in many
grures.
Most of the conversions I have done have
Composite Sync and the Horizontal section
has to be beefed up to correct this
mismatch. CoII1fOnent values have to be
changed in a few parts to renedy the
situation.

* Then capacitor C501 rrust be changed from
.001 Mfd to .027 Mfd at 50V Iey'lar.
* Finally, capacitor C303 rrust be changed
from a .1 Mfd ceramic to a 10 Mfd at 16V
electrolytic. (The positive side of the
new cap should go to the collector of
Transistor X305.)
W.l'E: When removing the old cap at C303,
notice there is an empty hole (soldered
over) . (pen this hole to accorrmodate the
closer lead spacing on the electrolytic.
This modification is needed alot when
doing conversions. You may also have to
readjust the Horizontal frequency control,
after the COIIlfOnent change.
