An error has beer1 detected
in the galllE!'s coins/credit
switch settings. When tryir1s
to set the game for either 2
coins/1 play or 1 coin/2
plays, no Matter what the dip

Serial Numbers 101 to 350 rnay
exhibit this fault.
If it is necessary to
utilize these settings (2
coins/1 play or! coin/2
plays) a corrected Eprom is
available from the factory
(contact your distributo>' for
availability). The new memory
chip will be installed ir1

thru 743).
Problem: The game-over and
high-score feature lights or,
the back box insert do not
light during the attract mode
or during game play. However,
they will flash on and off
during lamp self test.
Reason: Game-over lamp
socket wire, 97(Gy/0rl or
47(Grn/Orl is reversed with
the high-score lamp socket
wire, 95(Gy/Whtl. The insert
24 pin raale 111olex connector

Solution: Correct lamp
socket wiring as follows:
6a11e-over lamp socket wire
should be 95(Gy/Whtl.
High-score lamp socket wire
should be 97(Gy/Orl or
47(6rn/Orl.

Problem: The 17 inch long
bar that makes the left rail
of the ball shooter lane may
be shorted to ground, If the
ball should rub against this
rail while rolling over the
right special lane switch, it
will short the special lane
switch to ground and cause
the ■ icroprocessor to Jump
out of program. This can
cause various problems: The
ball can roll in the outhole
and die there; the game car,
go reset and then power up
again; or any solenoid may
energize and burn.
Solution: To test for this
shorted rail condition, the
playfield must be down and
locked. Use an ohm meter to
check for continuity from the
rail to the coin door or to
the center pin of the power
plug. If the rail is shorted,
the short is because the edge
of the rail closer to the
bottom arch is touching the
metalwork of the ball returr1
channel. Simply use a
screwdriver to pry the two
parts apart slightly and the
short will be cured.

Proble■: Microprocessor
chip problems.
Solution: If a particular
board seems to have problems
with the Microprocessor chip
itself failing, install a
1N914 (or 1N4148l diode from
the PROG pin (pin 25 on Mpu
8749) to +5vdc (cathode end
to +5).
This can 110St easily be

board between Ic4 and Ic5.
The cathode (banded endl can
be soldered to the +5vdc bus
at the 74LS138 noise filter
capacitor. The anode end then
can be inserted into the
plated through hole Just
oppcsite the cap (two traces
over).
