rate decrease. Out of thirty Tempests we
installed these closed field fans in, only two
have come back with monitor problems. If you
also leave the high voltage cover off, the capa-
citors therein will not dry out as fast. The fan,
though, must be mounted properly so it blows
over the monitor PCB, between the PCB and
the bottom metal chassis, across the "Y"
output transistors, and upwards toward the hi-
voltage cage. We found the best place for this
fan is to mount it on the edge of the shelf which
13
is below the monitor midpoint between the
metal. The illustration below should help.
In addition.to this, switch the "X" output
transistor's plug with the voltage regulator
transistor's plug, i.e., interchange P600 and
Pl 00. Because the voltage regulator transistor
pair is identical to the "X" and "Y'' transistor
pairs, you can switch the "X" pair plug and the
regulator pair plug. This switch allows the" X"
section more metal chassis in which to dissipate
heat.

STAR WARS
* MAIN PCB PCB
* VECTOR-GENERATOR
* COLOR X·Y MONITOR
During the production run of Star Wars, a bad
batch of dip switches was discovered. These
switches are dark blue in color and even though
they may look like they are off or on they may
not be. If after following the instructions in
Chapter 2 of the Star Wars operation manual
for changing the game options you still exper-
ience trouble with the options, please check the
option switches on the Main PCB to see if they
are good.
NOTE: If you change the option switches
located on the main board, you must go back to
the game options display and select the line
marked "RESET OPTIONS" and change this
to "YES". Failure to do this will result in
unchanged options.
• 4-minute installation on
location OR
• Send us your totalizer - we
will convert it ($5 .00 service
charge).

MISSING STARS
PROBLEM: During the attract mode or game
play you have no stars or only one star. There
are also no lights on the surface of the Death
Star, so the towers look like they're in space.
This problem usually appears on power-up of
the game.
SOLUTION: Short Term - (1) Turn the
power switch off and on until stars reappear or,
(2) Short out the reset test points on the main
board.
Long Term- Replace the EPROM on the
main board at location 1 F from a 136021-114
to 136021-214.
All games built after the following serial
numbers will have this EPROM change:
Upright Serial Number UR 9275.
Sitdown Serial Number SD 1388.
