G.E.
RECEIVES SUPERIOR SERVICE AWARD
T
he 6th Annual Convention of the Elec-
tronics Technicians Association, lnt'I.,
was the occasion for the presentation of a
special " Superior Service Award" to the
General Electric Company.
Mr. William England, manager of G.E.'s
TECH-LINE service in Kansas City, received
the plaque marking the action at the ETA
Awards Banquet (Surfside Holiday Inn in
Clearwater, Florida, May 25th). Mr. Jesse
Leach, CET, a past chairman of ETA and the
current ETA Shopowner Division Chairman
(L) made the presentation.
A portion of the engraving on the award
plaque is as follows: "Recognizing Superior,
Knowledgeable, Courteous and Prompt
assistance to all Technicians in need."
ETA cited the GE TECH-LINE service
because the four TECH-LINE centers in the
U.S. provide a toll-free troubleshooting assis-
tance service, not only to their own G.E.
employees, but to any independent service
(or appliance) technician who is having diffi-
culty with a G.E. produced product. Because
the technicians manning the TECH-LINE
phones can and do become familiar with the
various models and the routine (and not so
routine) problems, they save technicians
untold thousands of hours of otherwise lost
time.
Dick Glass, ETA's President, said: "Since
'Tough-Dog'
troubleshooting
problems
repressent the single most difficult problem
for an electronics technician who repairs TVs,
VCRs and other home products, the TECH-
LINE service represents a most important
solution that is directly and financially
important to technicians as well as the public."
