NINTENDO
FLANGE MOUNT/CREDIT SOLUTION
It has been discovered that there is a problem related to Nintendo's upper coin door
hinge. The problem is that a flattened straw or other similar type objects can be put
through the center opening in the upper hinge. The object then can make contact with
the coin switch and run up multiple credits. (See S*TJ, Sept. '82, "On The Service
Trail".)
The solution to this problem is to mount a flange made of wood or metal to the inside
of the cabinet so as to block these objects from entering the cabinet. The following
drawing will give you the dimensions and placement of this flange. The flange can be
made by the operator or is available from Nintendo as a retro fit kit.
This problem is present in all "Radar Scope" uprights, "Donkey Kong" uprights,
and the early shipments of "Donkey Kong Junior" uprights.
"Donkey Kong Junior" uprights will have this flange incorporated in the machine
starting with Serial Number 51800 for machines made in the United States and Serial
Number 1121 for machines made in Japan.
If you have any questions about this problem or any other questions, please feel free
to call Nintendo at 1 (206) 575-8191 or 1-800-426-4612.
