ENJOYMENT
The Starr Spinet, Model 250, pictured on the inside of the front
cover, is equipped with "A New Compact Direct Blow Action"
which is made by the Starr Piano Company, Inc., from the famous
engineering equipment purchased from Wessell, Nickel and Gross.
This firm was established in 1874 and has been for 70 years one
of the leaders in the manufacture of piano actions. This model is
finished in "Satiny Mahogany, Figured Walnut or Exquisite
Maple" according to an attractive folder describing it. To this
spinet the Starr Company have given their best in fine workman-
ship and exceptional tone quality in order to make it a heritage
of enjoyment.

THE LATE COL. FREDERICK A. V1ETOR
Since going to press Presto Music Times has received the fol-
lowing information. Col. Vietor was the great grandson of Henry
Engelhard Steinway who founded Steinway & Sons in 1853. As
Factory Manager and General Manager he saved no pains to carry
forward the manufacturing ideals of the House of Steinway & Sons.
He was a member of the Williams Club of New York and the
New York Society of Military and Naval Officers of the World
War. The funeral services were held in the Episcopal Church of
Heavenly Rest, Fifth Ave.. New York, on Saturday. June 21st.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marjorie Cochrane Vietor; two
sons, William F. Vietor and Carl William Vietor ; a daughter. Miss
Marjorie Vietor, all of Great Neck, and a sister, Mrs. Herbert
Stursburg, of Norwalk, Conn.

ILLINOIS ACCORDION FESTIVAL
AT DE KALE
TO BE HELD
The Accordion Band Festival held at Starved Rock, Illinois,
last year was such a great success that the Illinois Accordion Band
Association was organized and has received a Charter from the
State of Illinois. The officers of the Association recently met and
decided to hold the Accordion Festival this year in Hopkins Park,
De Ivalb, Illinois, on Sunday, August 24th. A very remarkahle
program is heing prepared.
Among the speakers will he Philip Maxwell, Director of the
Chicagoland Music Festival; Capt. Howard Stube of Chicago, and
other prominent persons from New York City and elsewhere.
J. Bradford Pengelly, editor of Presto Music Times, has been
asked to speak on the subject of "What Music Means to Youth
in this World of Turmoil." Jos. S. Daurer, Secretary of the Asso-
ciation, is ably perfecting the plans for a most successful festival.

The Music Department of Drake University, Des Mnines, Towa,
one of the famous middle-west universities, has selected four style
B Story & Clark spinet pianos. G. L. Bunt, Manager Piano De-
partment, Davidson Company. Des Moines, Towa, Story & Clark
dealer, made this sale. Mr. Bunt stated that the Music Department
was attracted by the fine acoustical scale by the eminent Joseph
Klepac. Mr. Klepac was credited in the Fortune Magazine July
1939 survey of the piano industry as "The father of the small
piano."
