THE FRONT COVER PICTURE.
FOUNDED 1879
Convention
The picture on the outside of the front cover is
presented by the courtesy of The Capehart Division
of The Farnsworth Television and Radio Corpora-
tion of Fort Wayne. Indiana. The theme of this pic-
ture is that the Capehart Radio brings to the listener
the music of the piano, the band, the orchestra, the
theatre, and the dance. Presto Music Times is ex-
ceedingly grateful to Capehart for the privilege of
reproducing this beautiful picture.

AMERICAN LEADS THE WORLD IN MUSIC
America now leads the world in tilings musical.
The war has caused a serious setback to musical
activity in Europe, but in America manufacturers,
artists, and the general public have taken an increased
interest in musical progress.
Manufacturers of pianos, brass and stringed in-
struments, radios, phonographs, and phonograph rec-
ords, have been very alert and creative. Just examine
the beautifully styled pianos all with excellent tone
quality that are daily coming out of factories. The
article entitled "The Piano — The Instrument Of
Millions" will illustrate this fact. Brass instruments
are constantly becoming handsomer and better.
Stringed instruments are undergoing a change owing
to American manufacturing genius. For proof of this
read the article about the Artist Bolognini on
page 13.
The section on "Records, Radios and Television"
has several important items showing real progress
by manufacturers. American accordions are the last
word in quality and appearance.
The American Public schools, and private and
parochial schools are devoting more attention to mu-
sic every year. And the people are now having
better music, both in Concert Halls and over the
radio.
In our short Convention editorial last year we said,
"America Must Lead The World In Music." Today
we can write, "America Docs Lead The World In
Music." This is a fine achievement for America's
creative power and her culture.
