Large Cathedral Selects Orgatron
Orgatron World once more is proud to feature an installation of
of an Orgatron in a large Catholic Cathedral. Several months ago
a two manual Orgatron was installed in Saint Joseph's Cathedral
in Saint Joseph, Missouri, by the Eshelman Music House of that
city. The accompanying illustrations will give the reader an idea
of the magnificence of this splendid building.
This publication also is proud that the Orgatron merits the
splendid letter written by the pastor of the Cathedral, the Rev.
Father Leo. J. Ruggle, to the Eshelman Music House. The letter is
dated April 16, 1940.
"During the past two months," writes Father Ruggle, "We have
had ample opportunity to appraise the value of the two-manual
Everett Orgatron which was installed in the chancel of the Cathe-
dral last February.
"We have used the instrument principally to accompany congre-
gational singing and also with the chancel choir. The chancel choir is
made up of some 50 children and the refined quality of the Orgatron
registers make it an ideal instrument for this type of accompaniment
and yet it has abundant volume for accompanying congregational
singing while its well-balanced 16 foot registers lend fine support.
"Mr. Walton Smith, organist of the Cathedral and music super-
visor of the Cathedral school, is well pleased with the installation and
thinks the Orgatron ideally suited for a chancel organ.
"When the St. Gregory Guild Chorus, a city-wide Catholic choral
organization of 75 voices, presents its annual choral program, next
month, the Orgatron will be used for the accompanied numbers."
