There are four main factors which must be
given great care and consideration in the build-
ing of a fine grand piano:—the scale,—the
action,—the sounding board,—design and finish.
The first three contribute to the production of
the tonal beauty and the fourth to the physical
appearance which plays an important part in
modern home decoration.
The scale of the Apollo was the result of many
months of laborious research. Mr. Clark brought
to this country an outstanding scale which was
proclaimed the model of perfection by notable
European artists. Mr. Clark and his assistants
made many comparative tests before the ulti-
mate scale perfection was achieved. Their final
selection of string sizes and lengths has proven so
satisfactory that the original specifications have
never been changed. This triumph of scale per-
fection contributes a most important part in the
production of the rich resonant tone of the
Apollo grand piano.
The Apollo action is a type which has for year
been famous in both Europe and America. It ha:

cal pianists. The precision in measurements per
