Down thru the years, Schumann has aspired and so labored toward one great, out-
standing goal—exalted leadership in a most profitable price field. This has been
done by building ONE excellent product, with ONE splendid name, and persistent
striving to improve its handiwork so as to make it more and more worthy
of that name.
Today, Schumann ranks highest as the manufacturer of small grands and upright
pianos in America. It has nothing to fear from others whose price might seem to
indicate that they were on its par in value. The imposing genius of its visual, exclu-
sive features of construction is what manifests such Schumann dignity.
Its future is unquestionably secure and promising to the dealer who is wisely
planning to stabilize his lines and to maintain the prestige he puts behind the
product he handles. Particularly if he has had reason to become alarmed over
many of the recent changes and developments in the trade.

When Mr. Thomson, about a year and a half ago ;
toured this country and Canada making speeches for
the cause of ScotlancTs development toward auton-
omy, he was received everywhere with ovations and
listened to with attention. In his piano trade, too,
which began years ago as organ selling, his square
dealing brought him a substantial success. So he
is a man known and honored in three great nations—
Scotland, Canada and the U. S. A.
PIPE ORGAN TRADE IS GAINING
Sales and inquiries for the first four months of
1931 indicate a return of luxury buying and an Amer-
ican market for pipe organs in excess of last year's
requirements, it is estimated by Harry F. Waters,
general manager of the Estey Organ Co., 642 Fifth
avenue, New York. "The Estey Organ Co. finished
the first four months with a record of sales 6 per
cent ahead of last year, and in 1930 our pipe organ
sales were larger than in any year since 1927," Mr.
Waters stated. "There has been a substantial in-
crease in residential pipe organ sales, and there are
indications, also, of considerable increases in theatrical
sales due to a general acceptance of the movable or
self-contained pipe organ for theater and radio enter-
tainments. Our pipe organ production figures for
the first four months are 20 per cent in excess of last
year and our production schedule has been on full-
time operation since September 1."
THE PIANO IN THE HOME

In an important message to the fathers and mothers
of America, Harry Edward Freund, of Chicago, says
in part: '"The piano in the home should be regarded
as a household god, for its playing satisfies the mental
urge, fills the heart and soul with rapture, beauty and
pleasure. Fathers and mothers, the hour is here, have
a piano in the home and let your boy and girl learn
to play, then you will have made a progressive and
constructive step for your children, for when they can
perform on the piano acceptably it will repay you a
thousand times over for you will have planned a won-
derful investment for the future happiness of your
children."
