STEINWAY ARTISTRY
A memorable tribute
to the incomparable
artistry of Steinway
was the selection by
Ex-President and Mrs.
Coolidge, of the House
of Steinway as the de-
signer and maker of
t h e official W h i t e
House Piano.
STEINWAY SPECIAL WHITE HOUSE MODEL
FROM PEN AND INK DRAWING
Just as the most masterful copy of a Raphael or a Titian will ever be only a copy and far
from the original, so it has proved impossible to produce a piano equal to the Steinway piano,
even though the Steinway w r ere copied to the minutest detail. No art product can be duplicated
by copying. It is an individual creation and it takes more than wood, metal and superior handi-
craft to produce an art creation such as the Steinway piano.
No other piano has been admittedly copied by makers in all parts of the world as the
Steinway, and no other piano has almost from its very appearance enjoyed the endorsement of
its competitors to the extent that the expression "as good as a Steinway" has become proverbial
in the piano trade. Back of the Steinway piano is the Steinway tradition permitting no effort to
be spared, nor expense to be considered, in order to produce the best possible in the art of
piano building.
