ANNOUNCEMENT
B
EGINNING with this issue, the PRESTO-TIMES weekly becomes a semi-monthly, to appear on
the first and third Saturdays of each month. The desire of the publishers in making the change is
to make the journal a more effective vehicle for advertisers and a more valuable medium for instruc-
tive trade matter of the inspirational kind for dealers. More than ever before the necessity is obvious for
special information on commodities, coupled with special service, in the music manufacturing industries
and among dealers.
New phases of the trade necessitate new points of view on the part of the dealer. In a semi-monthly
form, PRESTO-TIMES will continue with greater vigor to sustain its well-earned character of the music
dealers' paper.
Manufacturers and jobbers keenly desirous of keeping in close touch with retailers have always
appreciated the means provided by PRESTO-TIMES. They will now realize that the power of this paper
will be greatly increased by a vastly wider circulation of each issue, assured by more advantageous sub-
scription rates and by the special efforts comprised in its new schemes to make the journal more useful and
popular than ever with the trade.
The plans of the publishers of PRESTO-TIMES to achieve a greater degree of usefulness to the trade
and industry include the more frequent publication of PRESTO-TIMES EXPORT SUPPLEMENTS
and their distribution to a greater number of important music houses throughout Latin America,
Australia, South Africa, and all musical instrument importing countries of the world.
The annual publication, PRESTO BUYERS' GUIDE, will be extended in its scope and be more
varied in the character of its service. The inclusion of Radio Receiving Sets as regular lines by music
dealers and the extension of the activities of many piano manufacturers to include Radio, prompts
a new phase in the informative value of PRESTO BUYERS' GUIDE, which will be warmly welcomed
by the dealer.
Other factors designed to aid dealers and manufacturers are the new and completely revised editions
of the PRESTO TRADE LISTS, the little directories printed in handy form; three in number and
designed to provide up-to-date information about manufacturers, jobbers and retailers of pianos and the
various kinds of music goods, radios and supplies. Our Directories, Guides, Special Supplements put deal-
ers and manufacturers in closer touch with each other and provide dealer, salesman, tuner and repairman
with a wealth of information about the sources of supplies.
For the first six months following its founding in May, 1884, PRESTO-TIMES was a monthly. From
November, 1884, to November 1885, it was issued semi-monthly. In November, 1885, the paper became a
weekly and has continued as such without interruption for forty-four years.
Circumstances in the trade at the time prompted each of these changes and every change proved a
benefit to the readers and advertisers. A great number of names of subscribers on our list are those of
dealers and manufacturers who have been appreciative readers of the paper from its earliest days to the
present time. It is the purpose of the publishers to strive for a continuance of their friendship and esteem
by making PRESTO-TIMES a more potent aid than ever in creating better business and constantly up-
holding the highest aspirations of the trade.

How these several efforts to help and facilitate the business in all phases of the music and radio trades
and industries are really activities for the benefit of PRESTO-TIMES' advertisers and subscribers,
through increased circulation and wider distribution, is shown by a glance at the new subscription rates.
The new subscription rates are: Per year $1.25; ten months $1.00; six months 75 cents. The service
for each of the subscription periods includes the Year Book, Export Supplements and all special issues. To
PRESTO-TIMES' subscribers the PRESTO BUYERS' GUIDE is available for 25 cents with 10 cents
postage, the regular price being fifty cents a copy.
