of the Roxy Theater, New York, by S. L. Rothefal.
Although still under thirty, Mr. Velazco has distin-
guished himself by the creation of a school of organ
music which combines the conservative principles of
the classical school, with the most interesting devel-
opment in modern music. His first efforts at the
console of the organ were heard on January 26.

Settergren Finds Piano Business Good.
"The piano business is good," said B. K. Setter-
gren to Presto-Times correspondent, this week. Mr.
Settergren really gets business because he believes
the business is there before he goes after it.

Yes, Pianos Are Being Sold.
In calling on the trade in New York this week I
ran across several instances of firms and individuals
who are really selling pianos. I found all hands
busy and callers coming in constantly asking to be
shown pianos at the Mathushek establishment at 27
West 37th street. Mr. Wekerle and Mr. Stumpf
were both very busy. I found the same condition
at the Slocum store, 117 West 57th street; at Henry
P. Mason's establishment, 161 West 57th street; at
the Chase-Emerson, main office on the fifth floor of
the Salmon Tower Building, 11 West 42nd street; at
Jacob Doll & Sons, 6 East 39th street, and at other
places in the metropolis. It goes without saying that
success consists in close appliance to the laws of the
world. The world watches success. It has no pa-
tience with the pessimist.
John J. Glynn, manager of the Mathushek store at
37 West 37th street, New York, has been at home
sick part of this week. He was down to the store
for about an hour or two on Monday, but as it was
bitterly cold on Tuesday he did not dare venture
out. Charles Stumpf, salesman at this store, said that
trade had been good for the last month—larger than
during any month this winter so far. Here I had a
pleasant meeting with Father T. F. Padien, whose
home is at 180 Van Horn street, Jersey City, N. J.
Father Padien is a musician who delights in playing
the piano, and he played for the little group assem-
bled there. He is the owner of a beautiful Mathu-
shek. He gets home about once a month aid plays
for his mother, who lives at the address mentioned.

Father Padien said: "There are plenty of young peo-
ple today who play the piano. Not all of the new
generation have the new-fangled idea of not wishing
to take the labor of learning to play."
Dr. Sidney Spaeth on Piano Playing.
Henry P. Mason of New York said that he had
been having a talk on Monday with Dr. Sidney
Spaeth, musician, critic, author and writer on musical
subjects generally. Dr. Spaeth had said to him that
there was a great work ahead of piano men and
piano teachers just now in directing young people
toward the playing of music. It is an art that must
not be allowed to go by the board. Dr. Spaeth is
willing to expend his most strenuous efforts in bring-
ing about a livelier desire in the young people for
piano performance.

byville, lnd , has opened a branch store in the Tomp-
kins Building, 129 East First street, in Rushville, the
same state. On opening day a large crowd attended
