NEW YORK LETTER

seller, and if there is any business afloat Mr. Leins is
so active he is sure to get his share. Anyway, radio
is handled by this house.
Steinway in New England.
Word reached me by way of Steinway & Sons in
New York that their New England hustlers had
been finding trade in the smaller towns in that group
of states quite active, and my informant was speak-
ing of piano business strictly at that.
W. B. Williams On Selling Trip.
W. B. Williams, Eastern wholesale representative
for the Packard Piano Company, of Fort Wayne,
Ind., this week set out from his office on the 20th
floor of 130 West 42nd street for a short selling trip.
He believes in the personal appeal. His brother,
O. W. Williams, comes to the office occasionally. It
is understood that he is also actively engaged in
selling pianos.
J. H. Williams, formerly active in the piano indus-
try, is now living retired at Norwalk, Ohio. Mr.
Williams has not been in the best of health, but all
of his friends know that he has plenty of this world's
goods to live on. And their best wishes all go out
to him to see his health restored, and they would like
to see him at the National Conventions in Chicago
on the week of June 3. Mr. Williams has friends
by the hundreds throughout the United States.
Loomis' Faith in Music Lessons.
Delbert L. Loomis, executive secretary of the
National Music Merchants' Association, believes con-
sistently in the effectiveness of piano-playing lessons
in the schools as a definite means of arousing and
restoring interest in pianos to the advantage of deal-
ers and manufacturers. To Presto-Times represen-
tative who called upon him on Monday of this week
at his office, 45 West 45th street, New York, he said
the school lessos were working well nad producing hustlers who are out in the field assisting Edwin

E. Miller Getting Tonk Customers.
E. Miller, salesman for William Tonk & Bro., Inc.,
piano manufacturers, 456 10th avenue, New York, is
doing some lively skirmishing these days in the ter-
ritory within fifty miles of Manhattan. He some-
times goes into Queens, into the Bronx, New Ro-
chelle, or where not. He believes in beating up the
bushes for game and he has so much spirit in this
