RADIO FORCES MEET
Plans for Future Show and Progress in Television
Discussed at Meeting in Chicago.
Recently, during the week of the national radio
show at the Chicago Coliseum, a meeting of the RMA
board of directors was held in connection with the
Chicago gathering of industry leaders. The new
broadcast set-up ordered by the Federal Radio Com-
mission, television experiments, and plans for the
third annual RMA Trade Show, to be held early next
June, were the principal topics considered by the RMA
board.
The board received a report regarding the recent
joint study with a committee from the National Asso-
ciation of Broadcasters of the new broadcast reallo-
<:ations ordered by the Federal Radio Commission.
Progress of television experimentation was re-
ported by H. B. Richmond of Cambridge, Mass.,
director of the RMA Engineering Division.
j '"Public interest in television is great," said Morris
Metcalf. "The exhibition of television at this time
is a real service to the public. Those viewing the
television exhibits in actual operation and thus learn-
ing the difficulties to be solved before commercial
television products are available, realize that, wonder-
ful as they are, television still is in the laboratory
stage, with its commercial development probably a
long way off, although amateur setbuilders now are
able to get much satisfaction and may possibly aid
in the development of television."
FIRE IN PLEYEL'S FACTORY.
Describing the recent tire at the factory of Pleyel's
(Paris, France), Musique et Instruments says that it
did great damage. Seven people were injured or
affected by the fumes. Mr. Dalton, an American
professor, was trapped by the smoke, failing to real-
ize the imminence of the danger. The complete

destruction of the Grande Salle Pleyel is particularly
regretted on account of its acoustic properties, and
it will take years to reconstitute it. There will be
a minimum of delay in the full resumption of the
firm's activities.
ON BREMER-TULLY BOARD.
R. T. Pierson of New York city has been elected
a director of the board of the Bremer-Tully Manufac-
turing Company of Chicago. This is a part of the
expansion plans of this company which have been
under way during the past year, involving their re-
cent removal into a new two-acre factory on Wash-
ington boulevard. ''I feel that Mr. Pierson's associa-
tion with us will be of the greatest benefit, not only
in maintaining the position we have attained, but in
developing further plans now under way to enlarge
the scope of the business, and increase its effective-
ness," said John C. Tully, president of the company.
EXPONENT IN BROADCASTING.
Synchronization in broadcasting by stations WAIU
of Columbus, O., and KMOX of St. Louis, which was
authorized as an experiment by the Radio Commis-
sion, is being carried on with "an entire absence of
heterodyning," according to a report received by
the commission this week. Some of the experts
hope that putting many chain stations on one fre-
quency band is going to help the commission to solve
the reallocation problem.
