SHEET MUSIC MAN HONORED.
At a luncheon last week at the Elks' Club, San
Francisco, Edward P. Little, head of the music pub-
lishing department of Sherman, Clay & Co., was in-
itiated into the Twenty-five-and-Over Club of Sher-
man, Clay & Co., made up of those who have been
connected with the company for over a quarter of a
century. Mr. Little was presented with a beautiful
watch by P. T. Clay, who acted as toastmaster. A
pleasurable mark of the honor is a trip to the
Hawaiian Islands arranged for him by the house, on
which he sailed on the S. S. Malolo. Guests and
fellow members of the Twenty-Five-And-Over Club,
in addition to Mr. Clay and Mr. Little, were: F. R.
Sherman, F. W. Stephenson, R. C. F. Ahlf, L. M.
Lang, Rudolph Trantner, Fred Reed, Fred Norton,
E. R. Armstrong, C. II. Dewing, Mrs. M. R. Snyder,
Mrs. Aimee Post, Paul Pahnke and W. J. O'Connor.
SONORA TO GO ON AIR.
The Sonora Phonograph Company and its parent
company, the Acoustic Products Company, manufac-
turers of Sonora melodons, radios, phonographs,
tubes, loud speakers and phonograph records, have
joined the ranks of the national advertisers sponsor-
ing radio programs of musical entertainment. A con-
tract has been signed with the Columbia Broadcasting
System for "The Sonora Hour," to be broadcast every
Thursday evening from 9 to 10, Eastern Standard
Time, 8 to 9 Central Standard Time, commencing
November 1. The programs will be broadcast direct
from the recording studios of the Sonora Phonograph
Company at 50 West 57th street in New York. The
programs will be of the "variety" type. They will
comprise every type of selection from the standard
classic to the light popular. Famous vocal and instru-
mental soloists will appear on these programs as well
as the Sonora Symphony Orchestra, the Sonora Salon
Group and the Picadors, a popular dance orchestra.

FROM THE BIGGEST
ORCHESTRION
RADIO HI-JACKERS.
On the morning of October 12 a truck carrying
twenty-five Model 72 Majestic electric receiving sets
from the factory of the Grigsby-Grunow Company
to the Warehouse of the Northern Illinois distributor,
Harry Atler Company, 18th and Michigan avenue,
Chicago, 111., was held up by armed bandits and driven
off. The driver was forced into a closed car at the
point of a gun and taken to a distant part of the city,
where he was thrown out. It was discovered that
hi-jackers had taken orders for the 25 Majesties be-
forehand and then stole enough sets to fill them.
LIVELY ADVERTISING IN ALABAMA.
The Jesse French & Sons Piano Co., Montgomery,
Ala., features its sheet music and record department
in a particularly effective way. One scheme of pub-
licity that gets immediate results is strips listing
new songs and the phonograph and Orthophonic rec-
ords reproducing them. The slips are distributed in
packages and otherwise in a manner to reach prob-
able buyers.
TO
STEMMER'S LOUD SPEAKER POPULAR.
The Fuehr & Stemmer Piano Company, 1932 Went-
worth avenue, Chicago, is now beginning to reap a
harvest from the numerous sales of its new loud
speaker, which is made to resemble a large mantel
clock, and is richly finished in mahogany or any other
costly woods. Mr. Stemmer is very much pleased
with the trade his product is commanding.
