Musical instruments are in heavy demand in Italy,
says Assistant Canadian Trade Commissioner Henri
Turcot, Milan, as every family of moderate means
possesses an instrument of some sort. The domestic
piano industry, despite the fact that there are some
thirty-five well-equipped factories in Italy, is unable
to satisfy all needs, and imports attain a relatively
high figure. Germany has approximately nine-tenths
of this business. Player pianos are in fair request,
and imports from the United States are almost en-
tirely composed of these instruments. The demand
for second quality instruments mainly of domestic
origin is very heavy, while that for the highest class
is limited.
