WESSELLS WORK TOGETHER
Arthur L. and Fernando A. Wessell, of Wessell,

The Wessell brothers, Arthur L. and Fernando A.,
are among the most popular in the trade, and as
they are known by everybody in it, why not? They
are men of good actions as well as makers of good
actions. In factory production they work in har-
mony—they are consentient. As their actions agree
with the design, so the determined opinion of these
two brothers to manufacture the best actions pos-
sible are accordant, acquiescent and consistent.
The action is the heart of the piano. It hasn't
a right and left ventricle like the human heart, nor
an aorta and vena cava, yet its adjustments are almost
as delicate as those of a living organism, for it takes
action of the human heart and brain to construct
it properly, not forgetting muscular activity besides.
To make a good piano action also puts the highest

is made by the gentlemen referred to in this article.
THREATENED RADIO CHAOS
Session of the Radio Commission in Washington
This Week Discloses Unfortunate Condition.
Nearly two hundred representatives of newspapers,
ships, communication companies and amateurs ap-
peared this week before the Federal Radio Commis-
sion in Washington and pleaded for the allotment of
channels between 10 and 200 meters.
During the appeals, officials of the army and navy
revealed that unless allotments are made immediately
in the 3,000 channels open to use in the short wave
spectrum the United States is in grave danger of
losing a large share of these channels, of which there
is a pressing need.
Under .the international convention the bands be-
tween 10 and 200 meters are open to the whole
world. Other nations already have licensed several
waves in this class, and many license applications
are impending abroad.
Unfortunately, the emergency finds the radio sit-
uation in the United States in a confused condition,
owing to the failure of the Senate to confirm three
(if the four presidential nominations to the Federal
Radio Commission. The commission, embarrassed
by the uncertainty of its permanent personnel, is
absolutely motionless on the short wave applications
and apparently feels it must remain so.
RADIO RAILROAD RATES.
A movement to reduce the delivery cost of radio
products was initiated last week at New York by
the Radio Manufacturers' Association through its
traffic committee, of which Capt. William Sparks of
Jackson, Mich., is chairman. After conferences in
New York with RMA directors and officers and also
traffic experts of RMA members, Captain Sparks
headed a delegation which appeared January 12 be-
fore the consolidated classification committee and
inaugurated the effort to secure fair and lower rail-
road rates for radio receiving sets, accessories and
parts. The classification committee indicated its
agreement with the RMA delegation on the latter's
plea to reduce the minimum carload weight required
under the tariff for radio cabinets and receiving sets.
Chairman Sparks of the RMA traffic committee will
make a report to the RMA board of directors on
January 26 and intends to submit plans for a drive by
the association to secure lower freight and also ex-
press rates for radio products.

The trend for the marketing of articles as individ-
ual wrapped units is now being evidenced in the
musical instrument trade. A Chicago firm has re-
cently placed on the market a line of banjo heads,
each selected by one of their experts who has given
his name to the brand, and each wrapped in trans-
parent Cellophane and placed in a convenient carton
for sales purposes. This packaging not only keeps
the heads protected until they are sold, but it also
forms a convenient method of carrying one along
as a "spare."
