Schumann activity has expanded very noticeably
of late throughout the eastern states, principally in
Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Ohio,
where quite a number of new accounts have been
opeend and sales have increased, as reported by Chas.
B. Mclntosh, vice-president of the Schumann Piano
Company.
Mr. Mclntosh attributes most of the company's
achievement to the public fancy for modernized piano
case design and the conspicuous part that the Schu-
mann Piano Company ha.; played in catering to the
wide-spreading appeal of periods with colored adorn-
ments. This, supplemented by Schumann persistent
practice of concentrating its productive and sales
energy upon "built-up" quality construction as is so
effectively portrayed each month in tlic'r dealers'
publication, Iwantokno.
It is following a painful and distracting interval
caused by his recent sad bereavement, which made it
difficult for Mr. Mclntosh to devote his usual atten-
tion to business matters, that he is again resum : ng
full, active interest. He has just left for an extended
trip throughout the Fast and South, where he will
call upon many of the new dealers and renew
acquaintances with the old-timers. He expressed
marked enthusiasm over t'le general business outlook
this fall.
Several Ampico artists provided the program an-
nounced as the "Ampico Hour" recently over WJZ,
New York, through the courtesy of the American
Piano Co. The sparkling array included J. Milton

G. J. DOWLING IS OPTIMISTIC.
George J. Dowling, president of The Cable Com-
pany, Chicago, cheerfully admits that business in the
hear in your own home the playing of the world's
piano line is getting better and better with the ap-
greatest pianist. Mr. Crosse went on to say that
within the last few days the newspapers had brought proach of the winter holiday season. "If we get a
good increase in business at any time of the year,
to the attention of the audience the fact that the
Ampico Symphonique was being shown for th^ first now is the season for it," he said to a Presto-Times
representative on Wednesday of this week. With the
