Strong Array of Favorite Operas Announced for
Regular and Matinee Performances.
The repertoire for the opening week of the Civic
Opera season is announced, constituting what is said
to he the best balanced and most interesting series of
bills that lias inaugurated any season in operatic
history.
The operas listed bring forward a strong array of
favorites, starting with Claudio Muzio and Tito
Schipa in '"La Traviata" on Thursday evening, No-
vember 3. Besides Aluzio and Schipa in "Traviato"
the supporting cast will include Richard Bonelli and
Jose Alojica and will mark the debut of Eleanor El-
derkin. Giorgio 1'olacco will conduct.
"Tannhauser" will constitute the second bill, to be
given on Friday evening, November 4, and will
mark the debut of Leone Kruse, soprano and Hein-
rich Schlusnus, baritone, in this popular German
opera. "Snow Maiden," to be produced for the first
time in English," is scheduled for Saturday after-
noon following, with Edith Mason, Lorna Doone
Jackson, Irene Pavloska, Charles Hackett, Giacomo
Rimini and Chase Baromeo, who will make his debut.
For the first popular priced Saturday evening per-
formance the "Barber of Seville" will be produced.
Sunday introduces a new subscription series of
twelve consecutive matinee performances.
