H. EDQAR FRENCH GOES
TO MONTGOMERY, ALA.
Formal Opening This Week of Bigger and
Better Quarters for Showing the Line
an Important Event.
II. Edgar French, president and general manager
of the Jesse French & Sons Piano Co., New Castle,
ind., left last week for a trip to Montgomery and
Mobile, Ala. He will be present at the formal open-
ing of a new store of the Montgomery branch. The
company had made preparations for a big crowd to
September 17, 1927
Sons Piano Co., New Castle, Ind., from customers in
every quarter of the globe. It created great interest
among people generally and evoked many requests
from stamp collectors for strange stamps.
Mr. French had an interesting experience in Mont-
gomery where the weather man took a hand at
warming things up. The city with a temperature of
98 degrees last Monday was the hottest place in the
United States.
NEWS NOTES FROM
INDIANAPOLIS TRADE
NEW KANSAS STORE.
The Starr Piano Company, Indianapolis, had an
exhibit at the State Fair, and Mr. Hook wore another
broad smile when he was questioned about results.
"Thousands of country folk showed unusual interest
in the new Chromatic Glissando demonstrated at the
company's booth. It was an unusual amount of pub-
licity this new device received, and an opportune
time to get it, as many of the spectators will long
remember how cleverly it was demonstrated," he
said.
The first new style 34 Starr Phonograph in a lac-
quer finish was also on exhibition, and all the latest
records were heard. In fact, the first style that was
finished was the one at the fair. Resides these two
attractions the entire line was well displayed and
thousands of> visitors registered at the booth.
The Wilkirrg Music Company is showing several
of the new styles of the Jesse French & Sons instru-
ments, in rare veneers and exquisite finish. The new
style Lagonda Art "Allemagne" is meeting with
ready sale, and Mr. Wilking is very enthusiastic over
the future of the new and attractive instruments,
which are truly works of art.
The new Indiana Theater, which is conceded to be
one of the finest moving picture houses in the coun-
try and the finest in the city, has purchased the
second style "K" Baldwin grand finished in gold for
the ball room. The Baldwin piano has been chosen
by VVI'BM at Indianapolis and will be used exclu-
sively for broadcasting from that station.
The Pearson Piano Company is rather pleased
with the demand for Steinway & Sons' pianos; the
grands especially are moving freely, and the same
can be said of the Kttrtzmann instruments. Business
is very good, considering the prolonged hot weather
which the city is having just now. John Pearson is
looking after the piano department at present, and
no successor to Mr. Wert, who has recently resigned,
has been named.
Homer A. Ellis and Joe F. Richardson of the Ellis
Music Company, at Nevada, Mo., have leased the
part of the building at 5 North Main street, Fort
Scott, Kahs., formerly occupied by the Martin Bros.
Piano Company, and have started a store there. The

take part in the special celebration. The manage-
ment feels assured of a large increase in business as
a result of moving into larger and better quarters.
An accompanying cut shows the tasteful arrange-
ment of the ground floor showroom in the Mobile
store. A notable improvement in the piano phase
of the business prompted a larger display of pianos
made in a manner suitable to their importance.
A notable display in the show r window of the Mo-
bile store recently proved the world-wide demand
for Jesse French & Sons.pianos. It was a collec-
tion of envelopes addressed to the Jesse French &

E. W. Furbush, general wholesale manager of the

the Fine Arts building, Chicago, expressed himself
this week as being thoroughly satisfied with the way
the trade is shaping up. Period art models in both
