Tonal and Structural Merits of Emerson and Linde-
man Grands Demonstrated in Exhibit.
The United Piano Corporation, Norwalk, O , had a
notable exhibit which attracted a constant stream of
dealers to the suite reserved at the Hotel Syracuse
during the days of the meeting to launch the New
York State Music Merchants' Association. The ex-
hibit was under the personal direction of E. S. Wil-
liams, vice-president, and Stewart Perry, traveling
representative of the company.
An Emerson grand and a Lindeman & Sons grand
were objects of special admiration by the delegates
visiting the exhibit. The instruments were finished
in lacquer and equipped with the new Wi'.liams Tone
Amplifier.
In the occasional demonstrations the tone beauties
of the pianos were impressed on the visitors and
never before did the Emerson so justify the descrip-
tive phrase, "the sweet-toned Emerson," so long asso-
ciated with the instrument. Today, more than ever
before, t'.ie fine old Emerson name is associated with
high musical excellence.

Earle K. Haweken & Sons, the well-known music
merchants of Springfield. Ohio, report the sale of a
Brambach Baby Grand to the Ladies' Auxiliary of
the local branch of the American Legion. The accom-
panying photograph shows the Brambach in place in
the room used by the Auxiliary at the local home.
The young lady shown in the picture is president of
the Auxiliary and it was because of her keen appre-
ciation of music and musical merchandise that the
Brambach was selected.
A PIANO MYSTERY.
When Edward Powers and Mrs.. Edward Powers
returned simultaneously to their home at 8111 Cran-
don, avenue, Chicago, last week, they found a piano
on the back porch. Each turned to the other and
said, "Why, you old dear!" But they took it all
back when each discovered the other had not par-
chased the instrument as a surprise. Mystery sur-
rounded its origin and it was turned over to the
police.
