One of the surest signs of increasing activity on
the part of piano dealers is the growth in the number
of orders for trucks for movers reported by the Self
Lifting Piano Truck Co., Findlay, Ohio. Pianos are
moving when the means to move them is in demand
by movers and piano dealers. The supply industry
is a dependable pulse of the piano trade so that the
satisfactory report from the enterprising Findlay
house has a pleasant meaning.
Selpo trucks made by the Self Lifting Piano Truck
Company are the big sellers. Designed and built by
experts with a keen knowledge of the requirements,
the Selpo trucks are the last word in such devices.
These trucks are guaranteed to make the dealer's
service the best. They are complete and sturdy with
cross-braced and riveted frame constructed so it can-
not rack. In the Selpo truck the bail has been
lengthened to increase its leverage.
The company also makes sill trucks, piano hoists,
covers and specially made straps. Every alert dealer
should have the catalog of the Self Lifting Piano
Truck Company in his file.
WHEN IT PAID TO MISS TRAIN.
Mr. Schulz, of Schulz & Moennig, Chicago, manu-
facturers' agents and importers of musical merchan-
dise, tells a story of missing his train that brought
him a large order. He had lingered with friends over
a luncheon in San Francisco until the train had gone
—the only time in many years of travel that he had
ever missed a train—and took the boat over to Oak-
land. On the wharf there he met Mr. Hauschildt, the
San Francisco piano dealer, and that gentleman in-
vited Mr. Schulz to return to San Francisco, and
when they got to the store he gave Mr. Schulz an
order for $8,000 worth of pianos.

NEW PLANT FOR ORGAN BUILDERS.
F. W. Smith & Son, organ builders, Alameda, Cal.,
are planning the erection of a new factory at East
Fourteenth street and Eighty-second avenue, Oak-
land, another suburb of San Francisco which adjoins
Oakland. The company makes a specialty of theater
organs and already has built instruments for leading
theaters in that section. F. W. Smith, head of the
industry, has had valuable experience in that field.
PHONOGRAPHS IN MEXICO.
The manufacture of phonographs is a new industry
in Guadalajara established within the past year, and
has not gained much importance as yet. In this in-
dustry, cedar, mahogany, primavera, and oak are
used, all of which are supplied locally with the excep-
tion of oak, which is imported from the United
States.
NEW MOBILE FIRM.
The Perry-LeGear Piano Co. has opened a new
store at 469 Dauphin street. Mobile, Ala. This firm,
while making a specialty of pianos, of which it car-
ries nineteen makes, will handle the Adler-Royal
radios and phonographs, as well as all other kinds of
musical instruments. The members of this firm are
well known in the city.
