to locate within their borders. If Denver would put
on a campaign of this kind with a reasonable amount
of money behind it and make a systematic effort to
locate desirable factories there is no doubt in my
mind but what it would result in the establishment
of many such institutions in your beautiful city."

PROGRESSIVE OKLAHOMA
FIRM OPENS NEW BRANCH
Chestnut Bros., Guthrie, Celebrates Opening of
Oklahoma City Branch with Musical Program.
The Chestnut Bros. Music Co., Guthrie, Okla., has
opened a branch store in Oklahoma City and the event
marked the beginning of a new era in the activities
of the progressive music house. The occasion was
celebrated with a reception and a fine musical pro-
gram and the daily newspapers gave considerable
space to the incident and the history and achieve-
ments of the four Chestnut brothers.
O. G., G. C. and E. W. Chestnut are partners in
the business which was founded in Coyle, Okla. about
twenty-five years ago. The firm moved to Guthrie
in 1911 where success attended the efforts of the three
energetic brothers. In 1918 the firm bought out three
competitive stores which were later consolidated with
the original Chestnut business.
Pianos, talking machine and musical merchandise
are included in the stock of the Oklahoma City
branch. The agency of a pipe organ company will
be announced next week.
SALE BEFORE MOVING.
The Bungalow Busy Music Shop, Taylorville, 111.,
is going to move on or about Nov. 1 into its new
modern musical shop on South Main street, and
starting this week is putting on the greatest removal
sale of musical merchandise ever held in central
Illinois.''
RECEPTION IX DARROW MUSIC CO.'S STORE.
In the picture "S\r. Brinkerhoff is seated fifth from left, alongside Mr. Darrovv.
sion was made an opportunity for hundreds of
owners of Brinkerhoff pianos to greet him person-
ally. Mr. Brinkerhoff was the guest of honor at a
banquet given by the staff of the Darrow Music
Company at the Albany Hotel.
In an interview given to a reporter of the Denver
Times Mr. Brinkerhoff gave his impressions of Col-
orado both from his observations and the growing
importance of the state as a buyer of pianos.
"Colorado is in much better condition today than
many other sections of the country," said Mr. Brin-
kerhoff, "and there is a better spirit among the busi-
ness interests here which in a large degree is typical
of the West. While our company does business all
over the United States and abroad, we always feel a
certain satisfaction about our Denver connection—
the Darrow Music Company—because the orders
come along with wonderful regularity and this same
condition has existed for nearly twenty years.
"One special feature which strikes the visitor to
Denver is the cleanliness of the city. Your streets
are a marvel in this respect and when compared with
some of the larger Eastern cities, especially in the
business districts there is no comparison. I believe if
the advantages of Denver, with its wonderful climate
and progressive spirit, were more widely advertised
through the East that a good many business institu-
tions might be induced to locate here. Most of the
Eastern cities have obtained their manufacturing con-
cerns by paying bonuses, lowering taxes and other-
wise making special inducements for these industries
the wonderful growth the city is showing in the erec-
tion of business blocks and new high schools since
his last visit here a number of years ago.
