DUO=ART USED IN
MANY SUMMER SCHOOLS
Directors of Music in Country's Great Uni-
versities Show Preference for Appreciation
with Use of Noted Instrument.
The Duo-Art lias been used constantly this sum-
mer at great university summer schools over the
whole United States and by several noted educators.
Prominent among the latter is Mrs. Agnes Moore
Fryberger, Educational director of the Minneapolis
Symphony Orchestra and author of "Listening- Les-
twenty-four pages or more, mailed at the rate of 1
cent for each two ounces. The new rules are issued
to meet changed conditions arising from the increase,
last April, in the postage rates on third-class matter,
under which catalogs of less than twenty-four pages
and other circular matter require postage at the rate
of 1 y 2 cents for each two ounces.
It is now permissible to inclose with catalogs of
twenty-four pages or more a reply envelope or reply
postcard, provided only such matter appears thereon
as obviously relates directly and exclusively to the
catalog; a single order blank bearing no extraneous
matter, but only such matter as clearly pertains to the
catalog; and a loose printed circular consisting of a
single sheet not larger than approximately the size
of the catalog it accompanies, provided it relates ex-
clusively to the catalog. If in the form of a circular
letter, it may not be in the nature of a general com-
munication nor contain additional offers or refer to
extraneous matters.
The inclosure with a catalog of any loose printed
matter not conforming to the conditions outlined
above will subject the entire package to postage at
the rate of 1 1 / 2 cents for each two ounces. However,
if a circular or other printed matter is securely at-
tached to a catalog by pasting, stitching or stapling,
so that it will form an integral part of the catalog, it
does not make it subject to the higher rate.
The inclosure of samples of any merchandise with
a catalog subjects the whole to payment of the 1 \/ 2 -
cent postage rate.

The following "announcement to music lovers"
by Ed. Burbes, has been printed in the Chester, 111.,
Herald:
"I will open my piano store in the room formerly
occupied by the Browning Hardware Company, on
Saturday, September 5. I will have on display sev-
eral new models of the celebrated M. Schulz player-
pianos.
"The public is cordially invited to call and inspect
these wonderful instruments. In a few days I will
have one of M. Schulz' celebrated reproducing pianos
on display. This piano is operated either electrically
or by pedalling, and reproduces the music exactly as
if played by the artist."
MUSIC DEALERS CO-OPERATE.
The music trade in Indianapolis helped in a notable
way recently when the city celebrated Greater In-
dianapolis Week. Not only did the merchants co-
operate in selling and advertising effort, but every
house took part in a monster parade during the mid-
dle of the week which showed how important In-
dianapolis is from a music business and industrial
viewpoint. Thousands of floats were in line and
more than 500,000 persons witnessed the parade.
Floats from music houses represented in the parade
were conspicuous by their taste.
GRAND SALES IN MILWAUKEE.
A satisfactory number of grand piano sales for
August is reported by Ralph L. Pettit, manager of
the Baldwin parlors at the Wm. A. Kaun Music Co.,
Milwaukee. A grand was recently sold to the Plank-
iugton Hotel. The instrument was placed in the Sky
Room, where music is provided for dancing in the
evenings. Interest is centered almost entirely on
grands at this store, with players and uprights quiet.
