The demands for both upright and grand piano
actions continue to grow as the season advances at
the factory of Wessell, Nickel & Gross, New York.
The condition in the piano manufacturing plants re-
flects that, in the music stores where piano purchasers
are making, the quality of the action is a determining
factor in the selection of instruments.
The Wessell, Nickel & Gross industry, in its career
of half a century, has made but one grade of action,
and that the best possible to produce. The heavy
demand for the "Wessell" action shows the trend of
piano preferences—the call for instruments of the
better grade. The octagonal trade-mark of the com-
pany is today a greater factor than ever in the pur-
chase of fine pianos.
Since 1874 this famous action has been the choice
of many leading piano makers. Wide-awake piano
dealers recognize the impelling force in sales of this
product. They know they will do more business if
prepared to meet the increasing demand for pianos
equipped with the Wessell, Nickel & Gross piano
actions.
"The piano action industry is giving evidences of
continuous improvement and the outlook for the bal-
ance of the year is excellent," said A. L. Wessell
when seen by a Presto representative "We are pre-
pared to operate the factory to full capacity in order
to meet the constantly increasing requirements of the
trade."

A. L. Huber who, as we told last week, purchased
the Muncie, Ind., store of the Meskill Music Com-
pany, has been engaged in the music business in
Muncie for 19 years.
One of the proud possessions of Mr. Huber is a
letter from Thomas A. Edison complimenting him on
a list of New Edison phonograph owners whom Mr.
Huber had sold. In the letter to Mr. Huber, Mr.
Edison said:
"This list, or perhaps T should say 'Roll of Honor,'
is the most remarkable document that has come to
my notice, representing as it does the concrete results
of the salesmanship of one man, and I heartily con-
gratulate you in the outcome of your faith in the
New Edison. I wish we had some more dealers
with your enthusiasm and pep."
MUSIC T U I T I O N CONTROLLED.
A correspondent of the Frankfurter Zeitung says
the recently announced decrees of the Prussian Min-
ister of Science, Art and Education, regulating pri-
vate tuition in music, have produced profound disquiet
in music circles, several of the leading old-established
musical societies not having had even the opportunity
of examining the decrees before they were launched.
These and other cognate bodies are protesting.
