GERMAN RADIO PLANS.
More than 2,000,000 Germans are paying 2 marks
(50 cents) monthly, for permission to use their own
receivers and the German government hopes for
an increase of more than 7,000,000 marks ($1,750,000)
from radio broadcasting this year. Radical changes
in the broadcasting system have been planned and
approved. Germany has fourteen stations in opera-
tion and six under construction. Another departure
in the new plan is the construction of a large station
in Berlin, now under way, where it is intended to re-
ceive programs from foreign broadcasting stations
and then amplify and rebroadcast them, thus enabling
Germans to hear the best American, French, and
English productions.
