Bob Kimic is a trumpet artist whose opinion on the
merits of a particular instrument carries the weight
of practical use. So when Mr. Kimic praises the
Dansant Martin Handcraft Trumpet the words im-
press the professional as well as the amateur. He is
at present playing with the Flor d'Italia Orchestra, an

organization of considerable note on the Pacific Coast
and in the Northwest. In his letter to the Martin
Band Instrument Company Mr. Kimic says:
"Your dealer sure did me a great favor when he
sent me a new Martin Dansant Trumpet to try. I
did not need a new trumpet. However, I just fell
in love with the Martin because it blew so easily, has
a short valve action, perfectly in tune, and—oh, what
a beautiful tonal quality. If anyone is looking for a
real trumpet they should try a Martin and I am sure
they will agree that I am right in my assertions."
THE BATON TWIRLER.
Harold Roberts is paying his way through the
University of Southern California at Los Angeles
by acting as drum major of the university band.
When asked if he played any instrument, Roberts
frankly said, "I used to try to play a cornet, but
after starving for several months, I gave it up as a
bum job. Then I practiced twirling a baton until
I could do all kinds of stunts without dropping it,
and ever since, I've been marching in front of bands,
instead of making discords in them."
