POOR COLLECTION POLICY.
The collection manager., who will carry on a long
controversy to collect a $10 bill from a good cus-
tomer when there is real basis for the controversy
is devoid of the "sales viewpoint." A good collection
manager will spend $10 to keep a $1,000 customer on
the books. It may often cost his company a whole
lot more than $10 to put a good order on the books.
And yet collection departments all over the country
cause an annual business mortality the profit of
which would more than pay the expense of conduct-
ing their departments.
Gibbons & Stone, Inc., 172 Main street, Rochester,
N. Y., piano dealer, has leased a store at 94 Clinton
avenue, in the same city.
