PRESTO
CLEVER PIANIST ON THE
ART IN THE GULBRANSEN
Claire Forbes Crane Writes Her Opinion in Pages
of Los Angeles Times.
Claire Forbes Crane, recognized as one of the
most brilliant pianists on the Pacific Coast, 'writing
to the Los Angeles Times recently said:
"When the Gulbransen Registering Piano was an-
nounced I prepared to stay in the studio a few mo-
ments for courtesy's sake and then slip away until
the number was over. Strange to say, the last note
found me still by the piano and thoroughly absorbed.
It is the only type of mechanism that I have ever
heard which the player could control conpletely to
suit his every mood."
The balance of the article is no less favorable to
the splendid programs put on by the Martin Music
Co. with the Gulbransen Registering Piano as the
foundation. It indicates the wholehearted enthusi-
asm, which the Gulbransen has aroused as the result
of artistic performance over radio broadcasting sta-
tion KHJ. Here is what Miss Crane had to say of
the article:
"The name of the Martin Music Company has
written itself large in the past month on the hearts
of our radio family. Last evening seemed to be the
apex of the splendid entertainment which it has so
consistently sponsored.
"The artists chosen were Ruth Pitts, coloratura
soprano; William Hullinger, flutist, Calmon Lubo-
viski, violinist; Lucy Fuhrer Genter, 'cellist, and John
Martin, accompanist on the Gulbransen Registering
Piano. The arrangement of the program was of
course due to the good taste of J. Howard Johnson.
"As Mr. Martin last evening played Moret's

'Heartsease', I felt that the Gulbransen Registering
Piano is what might be termed a connecting link
between the finger-played piano and the playerpiano
as it is commonly known. Still more remarkable
were the accompaniments for Miss Pitts and Mr.
Hullinger which responded in intensity of color to
the soloists' every demand. And for those of you
who like myself find it hard to transpose, the Gul-
bransen will do it instantly for you without think-
ing."

chandise and Courteous Service Good Combination.
Frank A. Meter, progressive jobber with sales
rooms on the ninth floor of the Republic building,
