At the recent annual meeting of officials of the
Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co., Chicago, a number
of important announcements were made.
P. L. Deutsch, who was secretary of the company,
is now vice-president. Mr. Deutsch, in addition to his
many executive duties, has always been very active in
the successful development of Brunswick phonograph
and record business.

ability as a sales-director is recognized and appre-
ciated throughout the music world.
In his message to stockholders President E. R.
Bensinger spoke with pride concerning the tremen-
dous development of Brunswick business during the
past year. This was reflected in the dividend pay-
ment of $17.63 per share that was received by those
participating in the company's stock. The total sur-
plus of the Brunswick-BalkelCollender Co. at the

At a luncheon of the Talking Machine and Radio
Men's Association last Wednesday in New York City
it was decided to suggest to radio manufacturers that
no announcement be made of new, improved sets until
the apparatus actually is ready for distribution to
dealers and for sale to the public.
It was said that announcements of new sets caused
the jublic to defer buying those now offered for sale
and that retailers were having difficulty in disposing of
their present stock.
RECEIVER FOR ACCORDION CO.
Ervin Stuckey, of Berne, Ind., has been appointed
receiver for the Swiss Accordion Company, of that
place, following the hearing on a petition for receiver
filed in the circuit court by Christ Zucher, an em-
ploye of the firm, who also brought suit for $199.54,
alleged to be due him in wages. In the petition it
was stated that the company's liabilities total ap-
proximately $3,000, while the assets are listed at
$2,000. It is stated also that the company has been
unable to pay its employes for their labor during
the last three months. The company engages in the
manufacture and sale of accordions.

converted into a very attractive business place. A
number of combination record and player roll rooms
have been installed, each having sound-proof walls,
and in addition to pianos, the store will have a com-
plete stock of Q R S player rolls. Miss Etta Haynes,
formerly connected with the Kieselhorst store, has
been installed as manager. The new store will be
operated in addition to the Kieselhorst Victrola and
Rnmswick Shop on State street.
INSURES RADIO SECRECY.
John Hays Hammond, Jr., American inventor, left
home for London this week to demonstrate to the
British Admiralty his latest device in radio transmis-
sion. He has entered into a contract with the Italian
government for a number of transmitting and receiv-
ing sets on a new system, to be constructed in the
United States. This system permits of secrecy in
radio transmission and enables each station to send
more than one message simultaneously on the same
wave length.
