A Booklet Published by the National Association of
Piano Tuners.
"The Care of the Piano" is being circulated in the
trade. It contains valuable information and should
be read by every dealer and piano owner. The ques-
tion asked in the pamphlet is: ''How often should the
piano be tuned?" and continues: '"Authorities on this
subject agree that, in order to obtain satisfactory re-
sults and at the same time preserve the tone quality
and keep the action in perfect working order, it is
necessary to have the piano tuned at least twice a
vear."
VENEER LOG PRODUCTION.
In southern Illinois is a tract bordering on the
.Mississippi bottoms which lias been studied by the
natural history survey. The area contains 697,000
acres. Of that amount, however, only 175,000 acres
are woodland. About 20,000,000 board feet of timber
are cut yearly from this tract, the survey shows.
Much of it is used b.y the veneer manufacturers.
In his convention address before the National-
American Wholesale Lumber Association, held in
Cincinnati recently, President W. A. Schuette said
standardization was the biggest accomplishment dur-
