The "Rules for Killing Any Organization" printed
in the Retail Music Merchant of April issue are potent
to gain the end suggested. • But the little organ of
the Music Merchants' Association of Ohio particu-
larly had in mind the causes of leading to the demise
of music trade organizations:
Don't go to the conventions, if you do, go late.
If the weather doesn't suit you, don't think of going.
Find fault with the work of the officers and other
members.
Never accept an office—it is easier to criticize.
Get sore if you are not appointed on a committee.
If you are appointed, don't work.
If the president calls on you to talk, say nothing.
After the meeting tell everyone how things ought
to be done.
Pay your dues as late as possible, or don't pay them
at all.
Do nothing more than is absolutely necessary, but
when the others roll up their sleeves and willingly,
unselfishly use their ability to help matters along,
howl that the organization is run by a clique.
Don't bother about getting new members—"LET
GEORGE DO IT."
