Gallup & Alfred, Inc., Hartford, Conn., which handle
the Mason & Hamlin, Conover and Cable grands.
Seder's Music Shop, 22 Grafton street, Worcester,
Mass., has increased the size of its roll and record
department.
A talking machine program was recently provided
for a Rotary Club meeting by Shedon's Music House,
Charles City, la.
A branch store at 284 State street, Perth Amboy,
X. J., has been opened by Gilsenan Piano Co.
Daltry & DeArmand has opened a store in Sand
Springs, Okla., for music busin'es.s
John A. (Sould & Sons. Boston, recently moved to
230 Roylston street.
The name of the Vates Music Shop, Lankershim,
Cal., has been changed to the Lankershim Brunswick
Shop.
The Wolf Music Co., Cleveland, O., has opened a
new branch store at St. Clair and East 125th streets.
The Bradford Piano Co., Milwaukee, Wis., recently
leased quarters for a new branch store at Seventh
avenue and Mitchell street.
C. C. Criswell, Hermosa, Cal., has opened a music
store at 1320 Hermosa avenue.
M. Bousman, Bowling Green, Ky., has opened a
new piano and organ store.
Redewill Piano Co., Turlock, Cal., has been incor-
porated with $25,000.
Levine & Black Piano Co., Detroit, Mich., recently
moved into its new location at 1437 Park place.
The Taylor Music Shop, Decatur, 111., has been
opened at 241 East Eldorado street.
University Music Store, Seattle, Wash., has moved
to new location at 4312 University way.
ASKS FREIGHT REDUCTION.

Authority to reduce freight rates on forty-one com-
modity items from Chicago and points west to the
Pacific coast was asked of the interstate commerce
commission by H. M. Adams, Salt Lake City, Utah,
vice president of the Union Pacific system, in behalf
of the western railroads, at a hearing this week.
Mr. Adams asked that these rates be ordered reduced
without any reductions in the rates on the same com-
modities to destinations in intermountain territory.
Mr. Adams said that if the new tariff is approved
the reduced rates will go into effect about March 15.
CALL FROM SOUTH AFRICA.
American pianos are wanted by an importing con-
cern in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Straight and
playerpianos are required, according to the Bureau of
Foreign and Domestic Commerce, Department of
Commerce, Washington. Medium priced instruments
arc preferred, and the firm desires an agency if
possible.
