BENCH IS A SALES=CLOSER
That Is Claimed as a Winning Characteristic of the
Perfection Piano Bench.
"No piano dealer can present a better sales-closer
than a fine bench," is a statement prominently used
by the Perfection Piano Bench Mfg. Co., 618 South
Canal street, Chicago. Standing alone it is a bit of
wise advice which is made better by the phrase that
follows in the advertising of the Chicago Bench Man-
ufacturing Company:
"No piano bench was ever made that proves so
fine a sales-closer as the Perfection Bench."
It is statement that involves a consideration of the
policy of the Perfection Piano Bench Mfg. Co. The
object of the company is to convince the piano dealer
and piano manufacturer that no Perfection Piano
Bench is in any way short of the qualities suggested
by its name—Perfection. "No Perfection is complete
in our piano benches unless it is perfect in construc-
tion, style and finish," is the statement of the com-
pany. By which the company means that it consid-
ers no piano bench perfect unless it can help close
sales. So the avowed object of the Perfection Piano
Bench Co. is to make every bench turned out of the
factory characterized by the perfection that helps
the dealer to close sales.

EQUIPS FARGO BAND.
The Stone Piano Co., Fargo, N. D., has an ener-
getic musical merchandise department manager, who
constantly strives to develop business in all phases
of the goods. The band instrument department of
the house is an encouragement to the band formation
spirit in the community. The latest band to be
equipped by the Stone Piano Co. is that formed re-
cently by the Business & Professional Women's Club.
The thirty piece band was formed under the direction
of Dr. Putnam, of the department of music, State
Agricultural College.
LECTURES FOR TUNERS.
A post graduate course in tuning and repairing is
now being given to the tuning and repairing staffs of
Sherman, Clay & Co., San Francisco. The classes
are particularly devoted to the mechanism of the
playerpiano and the lectures given every Thursday
evening are by experts in playerpiano construction.
TO MAKE PLAYER ROLLS.
The Delaware Registration Trust Co., Wilmington,
Del., had charge of the incorporation proceedings of
the American Consolidated Music Co. of that city,
recently incorporated with a capital of $600,000 to

Interesting Folder Describing Contents of
Each of Six Rolls Issued by Q R S
Music Co.
One of the most desirable and called for folders
issued for some time is that about Educator Rolls
(Set. No. 1) provided for music dealers by the Q R S
Music Roll Company, Chicago. The folder is a
synopsis of the Q R S Home Study Course in Manual
Playing, and is compiled and edited by Lee S. Rob-
erts from the educational writings of Isabelle Hollis-
ter McKee. In a foreword the Q R S Music Co.
says:
"Our purpose in presenting it is two-fold: First—
That those interested in the work will be able to see
at a glance the comprehensive and detailed manner
in which the subject is treated.
"Second—That the student either during its study
or after completion of the course, may be able to
quickly identify not only the roll but the position on
that roll of any subject to which reference is desired;
also it is intended to further encourage the student in
maintaining the progression of the rolls, in that the
analysis thus given will gratify a natural curiosity to
inspect a subsequent roll before the preceding one
has been thoroughly mastered."
The course is in six rolls and the folder describes
the subjects treated in each roll. The following is
a partial list of artists whose recordings are available
for the playerpiano in the Q R S Concert Series rolls,
and which might serve as an excellent coach for the
student:
Harold Bauer, Ferruccio Busoni, Teresa Carreno,
Eugen d'Albert, Vladimir De Pachmann, Carl Fried-
